As a non-denominational but Christian school we actively celebrate diversity and aim to foster a caring environment in which a respect for others is paramount. We aim to increase the children’s knowledge and understanding of Christianity and other principal religions, as we celebrate the major Christian festivals and those of other faiths. Parents and other speakers are regularly invited into school to share their faith and culture with the children.
By organising whole school events to support charitable causes and visits to our local Care Home we ensure that the caring ethos of Greenholme is shared within the community. The children develop an awareness of the needs of others and how they can each contribute to the society and world in which we live.
We believe that, through the teaching of PHSE and citizenship, we are giving pupils the knowledge, skills and understanding they need to live confident, healthy, independent lives and to become informed, active and responsible citizens.
The children are encouraged to support one another across the Key Stages and prefects play an extremely important and responsible role in the life of the school.
Children in Years 5 and 6 currently take part in the DARE programme.
