In this increasingly hectic, target-driven culture, drama primarily allows children to slow down, to explore and understand themselves and the world in which we live.
Once children begin their formal education, it seems there are fewer and fewer opportunities for them to live in the world of the imagination. Drama facilitates this.
Through various role plays, improvisations, mime and other drama techniques, we believe we are providing a social and moral training which helps children to mature emotionally and personally, preparing them for adult life.
Children at Greenholme have a weekly one hour lesson of drama with a specialist drama teacher in a dedicated classroom. All children get the opportunity to participate in our annual Christmas and End of Year productions, which enhances pupils’ performance skills and develops their self-confidence. The children are also very keen to take part in our poetry recital competitions.
